The guy responsible for making informercials a legitimate way of making people fall in love with your brand, Ken Block, has released another video from his Climbkhana series. While in the first video the rally star made a run up the illustrious Pikes Peak, this time he’s headed eastwards to China’s Tianmen Mountain road.
What does Ken Block drive? A 914 hp Ford F-150 ‘Hoonitruck’, which made its appearance in Gymkhana 10. Remember? The video was released on Amazon and then later on YouTube. You can still catch the entire Gymkhana 10 series online (links are mentioned below); if you haven’t, you must.
Anyway, back to the truck. The Hoonitruck is essentially a heavily modified 1977 Ford F-150. From its new bodywork and chassis, to 315-section tyres to a 3.5-litre twin-turbocharged V6 petrol (same as the one on the Ford GT supercar), there’s a lot that has changed. The original figures of the modified truck indicated a max power rated at 914 hp.
Anyway, that’s enough drivel, enjoy the video:
Ken Block started the Gymkhana series of videos with Subaru, as an informercial for DC Shoes. He then moved on to Ford, and the sponsors kept on coming. The latest ones have big brands like Forza Horizon, Toyo Tires, Monster energy, among others. The cars he’s used in these videos have been Fords (after moving on from Subaru, that is), shod with Fifteen52 wheels. And the Hoonitruck is no different in that regard. You can follow Ken Block on Twitter here, and while you have the app open, follow CarGuys as well.
Which one’s your favourite, among Ken Block’s long list of videos? It’s difficult to choose one, but he’s successfully managed to outdo himself in every consecutive video. But what do you think of the latest? Do let us know in the comments section below.
